Trust in God With Your Future

The Catechism teaches that all forms of divination—including horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, and consulting mediums—are to be rejected. These practices seek hidden knowledge or power over the future and conflict with the honor, reverence, and loving trust we owe to God alone. We are called to entrust our lives and our future to Him.

(Divination is the art, practice, or gift of seeking to foresee future events, discover hidden knowledge, or find answers to questions through supernatural powers, omens, or intuitive methods.)

2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.⁴⁸ Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
